Who's Afraid of Patterns?

My book "De Vergeten Wetenschappen" (or its English version: "A New History of the Humanities") focuses on methods and patterns in the history of the humanities.  These two notions are not uncontroversial though. Especially the notion of pattern is subject of heavy and sometimes ill-informed debate. The Low Countries Historical Review has recently published a Forum discussion in which my notion of pattern as well as 'humanities 3.0' are discussed -- mainly in the field of digital humanities but also in the history of the humanities.

Here is my contribution to the Forum discussion "Who's Afraid of Patterns?" (open access)

And here is the issue of the Low Countries Historical Review with all Forum contributions
